Morten Hemmingsen Sørup (b. 1978) is a Danish contemporary artist whose work blends street culture, humour, graffiti aesthetics, and social commentary into a bold and highly distinctive visual language. Based in Copenhagen, Sørup works across painting, mixed media, sculpture, and unconventional surfaces, creating works that balance playful immediacy with sharp cultural observation.

Originally trained as an industrial designer, Sørup draws heavily from punk’s DIY ethos, everyday language, and the absurdities of modern life. His works often combine raw energy, sarcasm, and vibrant composition, while carrying an underlying political and emotional edge. Inspired by graffiti, pop culture, and urban environments, his art sits between rebellion and wit — accessible on the surface, but layered with deeper commentary beneath.

Sørup has exhibited both nationally and internationally, including at Munch Gallery in New York, Galleri Oxholm in Copenhagen, and various contemporary art spaces across Denmark. He is also the former owner of Gallery MOHS and remains an active figure within the Scandinavian contemporary art scene. (gallerioxholm.dk)
